Toowoomba Bakery Named Queensland's Best
Toowoomba's The Baker's Duck has been voted Queensland's Best Bakery — and the team is still a little bit speechless.
The result comes from the Queensland Government's QLD Day All the Best awards, where 75,000 Queenslanders cast votes across 15 categories statewide. The Baker's Duck took out the top spot ahead of Mal's Pies and Pastries (Oonoonba) and Blackbutt Bakery.
Owner Isaac Moody didn't hold back: "Wowsers!! A huge congratulations to Deanne Musa, Millie, Jaidan and the entire team at The Baker's Duck. 75,000 people voted in these awards so it is an amazing achievement of their dedicated team!"
Even the Premier has been paying attention. David Crisafulli, who has made a habit of stopping in on visits to Toowoomba, offered his own verdict: "I've been to The Baker's Duck quite a few times when I've been in Toowoomba. It's never too early for sweets, but I'll start with this pie — just look at that [points to the chunks of steak]. That's how a pie should be."
The award is a reflection of the whole team — including Manager Deanne Musa, Executive Chef Millie Dunn and Head Baker Jaidan Neilson — and everyone who shows up before the sun does. As Dunn puts it: "There's a lot more going on in the regional food scene here than people expect."
The Baker's Duck currently hand makes more than 10,000 products each week. A second Toowoomba location is on the way later in 2026 — and for the first time, guests will be able to watch the pastry chefs at work through a glass kitchen wall.
If you haven't been to Toowoomba lately, Queensland's best bakery is waiting.
